Our Story

How it all started...

The Okmulgee First Free Will Baptist Church was established in March of 1903 at the same location it is today.

The initial church was a  small red  brick building that consisted of a small sanctuary and 3 class rooms. For a few years the church used Greenwood Lake for baptismal services until one could be built in the church.

In 1997 the first service was held in the newly constructed church which includes several classrooms, a sanctuary, a baptismal, and a great fellowship hall.

Expanding the vision...

In 2018 we began ”Reaching and Teaching“ according to the commands of Jesus in Matthew 28.  During the pandemic when other churches  were shut in and shut down we were proclaiming the gospel to people in our community with a new and thriving food ministry.
Still adhering to “Outreach is our mission and we are ”The Church Outside the Walls”
Our clothing ministry, which is free to the public, is growing.  We try to have a giveaway at least every other month and the amount of clothes that we have been able to bless our community with has been staggering.

Our plan and  prayer is  to build a new building to facilitate this ministry  in the near future.
We are constantly expanding and revising the way we are reaching our communities  We have a thriving food ministry that facilitates our “Church on the Street”, Community Feast, and provides blessings  throughout the city.

Where we are headed...

In 2023 we will begin construction on a new building that will house an area to facilitate our food ministry,  shower areas so that our community can bathe in dignity and an area for our young people to have a recreation area.

We are currently working to bring an training curriculum to the community that includes budgeting classes, foster parents continuing education, and  many more classes that can supplement the biblical training people are receiving from our outreach events.
